About 'restaurants in tuscaloosa'|Coming to Tuscaloosa








The               biggest               city               in               the               South               may               not               be               known               nationwide               for               the               BBQ               it               serves,               but               Atlanta               offers               many               locally               and               regionally               known               joints,               as               I               like               to               call               them,               that               satisfy               BBQ               fanatics               inside               and               outside               the               perimeter.

What               I               find               when               I               venture               across               Atlanta               and               look               at               BBQ               are               fairly               inexpensive,               but               consistently               good               BBQ               pork,               beef,               chicken               and               ribs.

Many               are               locally               owned               or               small               chains               that               offer               good               service               and               a               great               choice               of               BBQ.

By               having               locations               in               Cobb               County,               Douglasville,and               Canton,               there               is               a               Williamson               Bros.

BBQ               somewhere               near               you.

This               is               BBQ               southern               styled.

Two               brothers               from               Alabama               who               make               some               mean               sauces.

The               service               is               great,               and               the               setting               makes               you               feel               like               you               are               sitting               in               an               old               Southern               house.

Williamson               Bros'               menu               has               sandwiches               and               platters               galore.

Try               the               ribs               or               the               pork,               you               can               add               2               sides               and               you               will               leave               full.

The               Brunswick               stew               is               excellent,               and               if               you               like               yummy               okra               this               is               the               place               for               you.

You               can               take               pounds               of               BBQ               home               for               your               Summer               or               Super               Bowl               parties,               and               don't               forget               the               homemade               pies.

Williamson               Bros.

has               a               children's               menu               for               the               little               ones               and               it's               open               daily.
               Another               BBQ               with               a               Alabama               twist               is               of               course               Dreamland               BBQ.

Straight               out               of               Tuscaloosa,               AL.

if               you               live               on               the               Northside,               there               is               a               Dreamland               in               Roswell               and               in               Peachtree               Corners.

I               frequent               the               Roswell               location,               right               on               Roswell               Road.

Dreamland's               motto               is               "Ain't               nothing               like               'em               nowhere",               and               I               have               to               agree.

Dreamland               has               been               serving               up               ribs               and               BBQ               for               over               50               years,               so               they               know               what               they               are               doing.

The               setting               is               casual,               and               the               homemade               banana               pudding               for               dessert               is               a               must               have.

But               don't               forget               about               the               BBQ               thinking               of               that               pudding.

I               love               the               sausage,               and               the               ribs               fall               off               the               bone.

The               drinks               are               cold,               and               all               the               side               dishes               are               fresh.

Oh,               and               did               I               mention               the               banana               pudding?
               No               talk               of               BBQ               in               Atlanta               is               complete               unless               you               mention               Fat               Matt's               Rib               Shack.

I               don't               know               if               it's               the               food,               the               experienced               staff,               or               the               live               blues               that               is               played               nightly,               but               I               love               this               place.

Of               course               the               food               is               important.

The               chopped               pork               is               the               sandwich               of               choice.

For               chicken,               you               can               order               a               1/2               or               1/4               bird.

if               you               can               eat               a               full               slab               of               ribs,               you               are               better               than               me.

The               atmosphere               is               casual,               and               you               may               have               a               wait               a               few               minutes,               but               it's               worth               the               wait.

Pick               up               a               souvenir               t-shirt               on               your               way               out.

You'll               want               to               remember               this               BBQ               experience.

Fat               Matt's               is               open               until               11:30               Sun-Thur               and               until               12:30               Fri               and               Sat.
               Right               near               the               campus               of               Georgia               Tech,               you'll               find               a               family               owned               little               BBQ               establishment               that               is               as               good               as               it               gets.

Ribs               N               Blues               BBQ               is               known               for               its               ribs               and               its               pork               and               chicken.

The               menu               includes               ribs               and               combo               meals.

The               sides               are               tasty,               especially               the               "rum"               baked               beans.

it's               nothing               fancy,               but               the               restaurant               is               bright               and               clean               on               the               inside.

There               are               TV's               to               watch               the               big               games,               and               cold               beer               for               sale               as               well.

Ribs               N               blues               is               open               Mon-Sat               until               9               each               night.

Give               it               a               try.
               Those               are               four               of               my               favorites.

There               are               plenty               more               to               try               as               well.

While               many               fans               of               Southern               BBQ               may               not               think               of               Atlanta               as               a               BBQ               hotbed,               I               think               of               it               as               "BBQ               Hog               Heaven"
